About Michele

The photographer behind the camera

I'm a dog photographer based north of Brisbane. I understand dogs the way most photographers don't, not because I love them, but because for more than 30 years it was my job to. That background in professional dog handling and training shapes how I work on every shoot.

My border collie Buddy is the reason Top Dog Photography exists. Getting real photographs of him, not snapshots, is what made me take the camera seriously.

I shoot outdoor and studio portraits, and dog sport events. The studio work came from experience. Some dogs just do better with fewer distractions and a quieter space around them. Less going on means a calmer, more relaxed dog. My style is light, bright, and natural. I don't over-edit, don't force poses, and don't rush. If the dog wants to sniff something for two minutes, they sniff it. The session runs at the dog's pace, because that's when you get the real photos.

What I'm trying to capture is who your dog actually is. Not just what they look like, but the thing about them you couldn't replace.

A few things about me

Based in Burpengary, Queensland, with Buddy, who still thinks he's five.

No posing, no pressure, no rushing. Dogs lead, I follow.

I edit the way I shoot. Light, bright, nothing overdone.
